A classic living room, but not too classic

PICTURE: Maxalto, Lucrezia Soft sofa – design Antonio Citterio

This large living room in a historical building recalls the style of Parisian Haussmannian architecture in every detail. The herringbone parquet, the decorated double-hinged doors, and the marble fireplace create bourgeoise elegance in a space which must be furnished in the right key; and the new classic look of this setting instantly won us over. The sofa’s and daybed’s brown leather create a dialogue with the 19th century pieces, while the other fabrics vary in tonality and textures and the bookshelf has a more contemporary and industrial look with sharp lines and zero frills. Finally, the coffee table acts as a link between classicism and minimalism with its white marble top held up by a light and minimalist base.

The daybed

A must of classic furniture, the brown leather and tufted daybed is in perfect vintage style and a companion piece to the sofa.

The giant rug

For a bit of form and color, the extra-large rug emerges from the hardwood flooring like an island and hosts a landscape of seating.

The free elements

The two poufs and two armchairs which you can move around act as a counterbalance to the leather sofa with their soft mélange upholstery.
