Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, the understated hospitality of Living Divani

COVER: Grand Park Hotel Rovinj

With its old town perched on a promontory, its maze of streets and alleys and port-town atmosphere, Rovinj, the Croatian fishermen’s port which lies on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, overlooks an archipelago of 14 islands. One of the most striking cities in the Mediterranean, Living Divani awaits us at the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj of the Maistra Collection Group.

Immersed in a fragrant pine forest on the seaside, the modern architecture of the hotel’s six floors features a double-sided view: on the one side there is the crystalline sea, and on the other the picturesque old town of Rovinj. Created by the architect Piero Lissoni in collaboration with the Croatian studio 3LHD, the Grand Park Hotel has an international feel, and is mostly geared towards business, but is also perfect for a relaxing vacation of sea, sport and culture.

Wellbeing and dynamism go together in this hotel. It creates atmospheres with elegant metropolitan colors and more natural ones which get highlighted by bold and vibrant accents. Each space is defined by its function: there are more private areas which provide exclusive and intimate moments, or common areas for convivial interactions.

The hotel’s heart lies in its spacious hall which opens onto the sea with its large glass windows. This is where Living Divani interprets comfort with an understated and refined spirit. Standing out at the center of the scene, there is the Lipp fabric sofa with its elegant, dove-grey leather capitonnè. Surrounding it, there are the Confident armchairs which, with their soft and enveloping forms, create small havens of comfort together with the Agra daybed with its pale cushions and blue roll pillows.

Meanwhile, in the restaurant area (there are seven of them, including the vegetarian “Cap Aureo” and the starred “Agli amici Rovigno” headed by the starred-chef Emanuele Scarello) the ABC chairs welcome the guests with their perfect balance of tradition and modernity and delicate and tidy allure. On the other hand, the outdoor spaces alternate woven lounge chairs for an informal yet sophisticated stylistic mix.

There is no lack of common outdoor spaces (or more exclusive and private ones like the Cigar Lounge Tabakina), areas meant for sport (with tennis courts, bikes, kayaks, yoga and personal trainers) and wellness areas with spas, saunas and indoor and outdoor swimming pools where you can treat yourself to the levity and freshness of evocative and rejuvenating atmospheres.

Surrounded by the immense beauty of the Gulf of Rovinj, the white beaches of Santa Caterina island, and breathtaking sunsets which embrace us thanks to the large windows, this hotel is to be fully experienced as it offers us contemporary hospitality.
