The new Armonia 19 housing complex in Milan uses Marazzi’s façade coverings

In the new housing complex in via Botticelli in Milano, Marazzi, through its Marazzi Engineering division, played a key role in enhancing the residential design with innovative façade coverings.

In the buzzing Città Studi neighborhood in Milan, the Armonia 19 residential project, led by the architect Simone Dominoni, features an innovative conception of balconies and loggias, creating a harmonious combination between the exteriors and interiors. The entire block, which once hosted the Istituto di Arti Grafiche Rizzoli, has been transformed with Marazzi porcelain stoneware, which covers the façade, floors, and false ceilings on the terraces and balconies.

Marazzi Engineering’s experience in façade coverings

The choice in materials, guided by Marazzi Engineering, is a testament to a commitment towards sustainable solutions and energy efficiency. In addition to offering assistance to companies through the entire development process of the high-performing ventilated cladding, Marazzi Engineering is present during every step—from the feasibility assessment to the final inspection phases.

Marazzi’s porcelain-stoneware collections starring in Via Botticelli

The project features a mosaic of loggias which define the Via Botticelli housing complex. The alternation of solids and voids, enhanced by material and color effects, creates a one-of-a-kind visual impact.

The ventilated façades, covered with Clays porcelain stoneware in the Cotton color (in the 60×120 cm size), harmoniously blend in with the modern balconies, which feature glass parapets and the wood-effect Treverkview Scuro covering (20×120 cm).

The Clays series, in a delicate beige shade, envelops the ground floor and the ventilated parts from the first to the ninth floor. The division of the 60×120 cm size into 30×120 cm sub-sizes adds variety to the cladding, disrupting the repetitiveness of the volumes. Details like the balcony stringers and the upper part of the building make use of the porcelain stoneware of the Mineral series in the Iron color (75×150 cm) to provide depth to the architectural design.

These aesthetic solutions are also present in the roof gardens on the eighth and ninth floors, where the façade tapers and lightens the volumes. The wood-effect porcelain stoneware used on the exterior false ceilings and balcony sun screens calls back the look of the interiors, creating a harmonious combination between flooring and façade.

A state-of-the-art project

The project not only stands out for its eye-catching look, but also for its cutting-edge approach in terms of sustainability. Class A certified, the ventilated façade system significantly contributes to energy efficiency, ensuring thermal and acoustic comfort which is noticeable in every season.

Marazzi’s porcelain stoneware is the sector’s undisputed leader, creating long-lasting facades which harmoniously integrate colors and materials like stone and wood. The final result is an elegant architectural symphony which unites the exteriors to the interiors in perfect equilibrium.

Clays Collection
Treverkview Collection
Mineral Collection

Here are the stars of this innovative residential project. The Clays collection, one of the company’s latest releases, is a ceramic surface with an industrial look, which features a delicate brushed-effect structure, alternating glossy and matte effects, for a stunning concrete effect.

Treverkview is a bold series which reproduces, through nine different colors, the strength and warmth of oak—a traditional material which is faithfully reproduced in the tiles with the typical veining of the wooden material.

And finally, Mineral, another new release from Marazzi, is porcelain stoneware which plays with iridescent metallic effects. Perfect for minimalist spaces, its palette makes use of the tones and sheen of different metals: platinum, iron, and silver for the cold tones, and bronze and corten copper for the warm tones.
