G.O. by Oluce, an echo of timeless modernity

The Salone del Mobile 2022 is coming up and the sector’s companies have already begun to introduce next season’s new releases. Oluce, the most historic Italian lighting design company still in business, is no exception and wanted to pay homage to the designer Giuseppe Ostuni with a new release/reissue from the 1960s.

It has two decisive lines: a vertical shaft from which a horizontal arm branches off with a lampshade. The G.O. lamp represents the style of that period and the new industrial vision which was being established by combining innovation and functionality in order to consider mass production. But it is also an extremely contemporary icon whose strong suit is not only practicality (thanks to a system of joints, the shaft slides and is freely adjustable), but also its timeless style.

Oluce wanted to introduce the 2022 collection with a project which demonstrates how the brand has been able to go back to its history and keep it alive and contemporary. The new family keeps the stylistic features of the original project alive, like the cylindrical lampshade and contrasting materials of the various elements, and enhance them with refined details in satin gold which contrast the black nickel; meanwhile the base and lampshade come in three different colors: black, scarlet red and bronze. The use of color adds character to this linear and sleek object, which originally came in a table version and is also now available as a reading lamp which is still adjustable and repositionable.

The new G.O. once again confirms Oluce’s approach to going beyond trends in order to create an endless dialogue between styles and generations.
