To help us fully enjoy these pleasures, Ethimo, the industry leader in garden furniture, has designed two elegant, comfortable, and versatile collections: Calipso and Venexia.
Calipso: lounge furniture for extreme and flexible relaxation
Its name is Calipso, like the Greek goddess who detained Ulysses in the Odyssey. Designed by Ilaria Marelli, this collection of lounge furniture was made to help us let go of everyday stress via its soft and sensual seating, marvel us with its minimalist design, and adapt to our every style or spatial need.
I designed Calipso to be a versatile project with minimalist and elegant lines and a ‘system’ which, thanks to its modularity, allows one to create multiple, flexible and reconfigurable solutions to perfectly fit into the most varied outdoor contexts,” Illari Marelli stated.
The strengths of this comfortable collection
The strength of Calispo’s concept lies in its modularity, as it has been designed to create tailor-made setups. Its compositional freedom is made possible by the presence of the natural teak “oversized” modules (available in three sizes) which act as a base for the cushions.
The soft seating and backrest cushions can be freely positioned on these bases to fit everyone’s taste. Next to the seating, one can create large surfaces which are useful for supporting books, dishes, or glasses.
Lastly, the aluminum structure is particularly discrete. The lounge furniture seems to hover like islands in the sea, just like the one where Calypso seduced Ulysses.
Venexia: fin de siècle lounge furniture
Designed by Luca Nichetto, Venexia is a collection of lounge furniture inspired by urban landscapes of the late 19th century—the atmospheres painted by French impressionists or recounted in Victorian novels featuring the ardent population of London.
The light structure of the Venexia lounge furniture is made up of a refined system of slender aluminum slats which visually recall antique 19th-century railings. The collection is made up of elements which can be featured on their own or paired with one another to create large convivial outdoor spaces. Lounge armchairs, two-seater sofas, chaise longue and side tables with lava stone or glazed terracotta tops are the stars of this series which provides superior functional elegance.
Venexia adds a piece for the dining room
The leitmotif of the entire line, the slender aluminum slats, is also available in two new elements which have been made for outdoor dining: the chair and table.
The round table features an interplay of earthy colors. The refined pairing of the stone-effect ceramic top and aluminum structure creates an ancestral mood. It is possible to add the enveloping chair to the table to give a final touch to this stunning scene.
Venexia’s new Calcarea tone
For all of the lounge furniture in the Venexia collection, Ethimo has introduced a new shade which enhances the earthy look of the pieces even more. By playing with natural colors from the mineral world, the new Limestone White gives off elegance and strength at the same time.
The color options have been expanded and have been made even more evident by the possible two-tone table configuration:
- Limestone White of the structure paired with Ice White ceramic stone of the top
- Mineral Grey of the structure paired with the Ceramic Stone Anthracite of the top
