Scandinavian Design: Ambiente 2023’s focus on Nordic style

Practical, minimalist, and timeless, Scandinavian design is adored throughout the world for its formal simplicity. The Nordic home is a warm and modern place by definition, where everything responds to the criteria of functionality, quality, and comfort.

Ambiente 2023 could not help but include a wide range of Scandinavian brands and exhibitors. Indeed, there will be more than 70 Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, and Danish representatives at the fair.

Scandinavian “timeless” design

A timeless object has a minimal look which allows it to last throughout time and be appreciated even as tastes, fashions, and eras change.

However, time in industrial production has become a variable which does simply regard style. It also concerns the longevity of the object itself. This is where the important theme eco-sustainability, one which is dear to Ambiente and the design community, comes into play. Furniture and accessories must last a long time to combat the tendency in our society to throw everything away and rebuy low-cost objects in a non-stop cycle of waste.

The focus on Danish design

Denmark is one of the countries with the most solid interior design traditions. That’s why Ambiente 2023 will host Michael Ring, the owner of Stelton, for a conference within the Conzoom Solutions Academy’s program.

It will take a close look at Danish design: its origins, style, and future directions. At the conference, there will also be the award-winning Danish designer Sebastian Holmbäck, who designed the iconic Pure Black carafes and knives for Stelton.

In a recent interview Sebastian Holmbäck mentioned that they will also confront the issue of the environment at the conference. “In the face of a constantly changing world order, consumer behavior and climate crisis, reflecting on why and what products to make has never been more critical. Only meaningful and relevant products will, and should, survive,” the designer said. And we’d like to add that Scandinavian must be held up as an example.
