Smartworking or homeworking is one of the most important features of this transformative age and has radically changed our daily routines. Thankfully, the furniture sector always pays close attention to the changes and latest trends in home design and is ready to help us set up a home workspace with functional and decorative products.
And one of the most interesting new releases from 2022 perfectly fits this description: the Plettro series of desks and writing desks byAlias. We were immediately impressed by their harmony, discrete elegance, and that modernist touch which reminds us slightly the works of Mollino and slightly of the historic pieces of Scandinavian design.
Three features of its design: the surface shape, three legs, and a beam structure
No matter where its inspiration comes from, Plettro is a brand-new and original product which perfectly expresses the Alias style and the incredible design we look for each year in the latest releases. Paolo Rizzatto has chosen organic forms, wood, and designed the large top in the shape of a pick. Meanwhile, the writing desk reduces the surface by “carving” out one of the sides of the top and creating a small desk with sinuous lines. A delicate yet solid leg with a cast-aluminum foot has been inserted into the surface and branches off into three pieces of lathe-turned wood.
Plettro’s brilliance lies in its less apparent details. The surface has been designed with an extremely rigid beam structure made up of two thin tops intersected by a series of wood elements which, in addition to providing stability, divide the gaps into sectors where drawers have been inserted. Furthermore, in the undercounter spaces there is an effective cable management system which, together with the drawers, makes the desk functional and organized.
First work, then pleasure: Plettro is also a dining table
With these features, it is clear that Plettro is at its best in the desk and writing desk versions. However, the collection does not stop at furnishing the home office. In fact, for those who are looking for a more traditional yet striking table, the dining table lineup comes with simple surfaces, no drawers, and the same solid wood legs which characterize the entire series. They are available in various shapes (square, round, or rectangular), with the largest model hosting up to ten people.
