The 2023 Salone del Mobile.Milano was seen as a kind of rebirth for the event after the difficulty of the post-pandemic years. Oluce took advantage of this enthusiasm and participation to introduce its latest releases at its evocative stand designed by Ferruccio Laviani.

The Oluce Stand - Salone del Mobile 2023
An evocative stand to showcase Oluce’s lamps
The stand featured a surreal, architecture-inspired design and a warm and bright color palette. It made use of emotional architecture which recalled the enigmatic works of De Chirico, with pathways and hallways intersecting with stairwells and arched passages, all of which were enhanced by the use of intense colors.
Inside, Oluce used visual storytelling to showcase a selection of new and iconic products. These lamps were not only created to give off light, but also to decorate and tell a stylistic and aesthetic story.
The new releases included brand-new indoor lamps from Italian and international designers which featured a refined and decorative aesthetic to mold our living spaces with light.
Getting to know the 7 collections which lit up 2023
Made for our home or work spaces, let’s check out the seven lamps collections which lit up the stand:
- Berlin
- Dancing Queen
- Dora
- Calamaio
- Iride
- Medusa
Berlin lamp collection
The Berlin collection designed by Christophe Pillet is expanded every year with new models and finishes. Berlin, with its Art Deco-inspired design, has a form which recalls the round headlights of classic cars. In 2023, the series was expanded with two new variants: the floor lamp and the suspension lamp. The latter features four metallic diffusers which enclose elegant wire-mesh glass discs.
Supported by a thin shaft, its discs can rotate 360°, allowing you to direct the light wherever you want. The anodized brass or matte black finishes for the discs offer two distinctive stylistic solutions.
Dancing Queen lamp collection
Dancing Queen, designed by Victor Vasilev, is a suspension lamp which combines a decorative design with technical functionality. Its flexible structure allows for the creation of various lighting setups. The heart of the lamps is a horizontal body which contains the LED light source and supports ten slender metallic cylinders which have been designed as adjustable spotlights.
In this lamp, the spotlights, which are usually thought of as technical elements, become decorative thanks to their irregular design—both in size and the positioning along the central support. Dancing Queen looks like a hanging sculpture, where the spotlights can be organized according to a rhythmical structure, as in a musical composition, to create evocative harmonies of light. It is available in two chromatic variants: matte black and glossy gray.
Dora lamp collection
The Angeletti-Ruzza studio has created a lamp for Oluce with refined and balanced lines which emanates aristocratic elegance without being pretentious. Dora is a collection of indoor lamps which combines the warmth of the glass diffuser to the balance of the metal body supporting it.
Dora features delicate light, an antique soul, and classical forms which have been toned down and modernized through the simplicity of the stem and metal base. It is available in table and floor versions in two elegant finishes: a retro one with a satin gold body and red lampshade and a more modern and austere one with a satin nickel body and smoked lampshade.
Calamaio lamp collection
Calamaio is the first collaboration between Oluce and three young Italian talents: Marco Cervelleri, Giulia Di Lorenzo and Giacomo Montini. This table lamp stands out for its extremely minimalist design and freedom of movement. The lamp head can be rotated on the rotatable structure, allowing you to direct the light exactly where it is needed.
Wholly produced in metal, Calamaio is equipped with an LED light source located at its end which emits a beam of direct light. Light and flexible, it sets itself apart with its bright colors and glossy finish which is available in scarlet red, mustard yellow and satin black nickel
Iride lamp collection
The design duo at Bellucci Mazzoni Progetti has created a series of metal suspension lamps for Oluce with a minimalist design. With its soft light and low profile, the Iride collection reinterprets the classic concept of the dome lamp with a modern touch. Available in two sizes, Iride guarantees a sophisticated lighting effect and uniform distribution, ensuring superior visual comfort indoors.
The central opaline glass diffuser gives the lamp character and features a stylized droplet in the center of the minimalist dome. The light emitted by Iride is delicately diffused thanks to the reflection of the lampshade, making it perfect for domestic spaces. The collection is available in a total white version or with a white interior and a glossy black or red exterior.
Medusa lamp collection
Medusa is the very first collaboration between Oluce and the Italian designers Andrea Quaglio and Manuela Simonelli. This glass table lamp stands out for its innovative design which incorporates a metal dome into a glass cylinder: the dome hosts the light source while the glass cylinder delicately spreads the light onto the surrounding surface.
In Medusa, the traditional relationship between the base and the lampshade gets flipped on its head: the base does not support the lampshade but contains it. The dome is suspended within the cylinder thanks to a refined glass fold. The electric cable runs freely from the center of the diffuser and creates evocative wavy reflections, adding a touch of lightness to the overall design. The lamp is available in three colors: glossy black, satin gold, and scarlet red.
Atollo 238 lamp collection
Lastly, we have the new version of the renowned Atollo lamp by Oluce designed by Vico Magistretti in 1977. This design icon, which has already won the Compasso d’Oro, has now been proposed in refined satin black nickel variant. Atollo masterfully combines the geometric forms of the cylinder, cone and half-sphere and radically transforms the traditional idea of the table lamp.
Thanks to the dimmable lighting system, Atollo provides a versatile lighting experience. Available in three different sizes and various finishes, the range was expanded in 2023 with the new black satin nickel finish which gives the lamp a bold personality and an impeccable look.
