Inspired by the majesty of its namesake, Pietra Tiburtina, the latest porcelain stoneware collection from Casalgrande Padana, is a charming and long-lasting option for floors and wall coverings.
The porcelain stoneware produced by the Emilia-based company, known for its resistance and versatility, has been combined with the unmistakable beauty of natural stone, creating the perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
Pietra Tiburtina, renowned for its earth tones and variegated streaking, finds new life in these ceramic tiles which faithfully replicates its most distinctive characteristics.
Pietra Tiburtina’s ancient origins
Pietra Tiburtina, more commonly known as Travertine, did not just inspire the collection by chance. It is a part of Italy’s artistic heritage and, over the centuries, has played a role in inspiring generations of designers.
Found in the quarries around what is now Tivoli (formerly now as Tibur) in Lazio, this stone has contributed to bestowing monuments and works of art with timeless beauty since the Ancient Rome era.
The collection has been made using various techniques which allow for the faithful reproduction of the look and texture of natural stone.
Specifically, there are two versions: the vein-cut version which highlights the lengthwise layers of limestone, and the cross-cut version—available in an antiqued finish as well—which emphasizes Pietra Tiburtina’s cloud-like effects and gives the tiles the feeling of a bygone era.
The technical details: Pietra Tiburtina’s formats and colors
Inspired by a careful selection of the finest Travertine rock, the Pietra TIburtina collection comes in four charming colors: Aventino, Campidoglio, Celio and Palatino.
