An appointment with Cersaie 2021

After the special edition of the Salone del Mobile 2021, here is another sign of recovery with an event which can’t be missed: Cersaie, the most important event for ceramic, bathroom furniture, architecture and design. In its 38th edition, it is back in person at the Fiera di Bologna from September 27th to October 1st.

The atmosphere this year promises to be bold and intense so we can forget the void created by last year’s forced closure. In fact, the Cersaie has declared itself to be Open to Evolution with the introduction of its new logo: a cube which explodes into a cloud of pixels symbolizing the exhibition’s desire for a comeback and its push for new opportunities.

And the appointments look promising: the exhibition is even overbooked with all 15 pavilions at BolognaFiere fully occupied with over 600 exhibitors and thousands of debut products. Plus, this edition’s program is also jam-packed and will once again include the participation of exceptional guests like the Pritzker Prize winner Shigeru Ban, who will give a keynote speech on Friday October 1. Moreover, there will also be many cultural events and appointments dedicated to training and design.

Just consider the new Contract Hall, a 10,000 sqm space inside pavilion 18 made for the world of design. The best of the B2B sector will go on display with kitchens, home automation, lighting, finishing, indoor and outdoor furniture, and technologies focused on wellness. This is where the ADI awards will be handed out: ADI Ceramics and Bathroom Design Award, awarded to the most innovative products of the ceramic and bathroom furniture sectors, and the ADI Booth Design Award for the exhibition booth which best promotes its product and brand. Capping it all off, there will be two shows dedicated to the architecture competitions of the Italian ceramic industry and Cersaie La Ceramica e il Progetto e al Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition.

To open the exhibition there will be the usual inaugural convention, which this year is centered on Sustainability, energy transition and an international competition for Made in Italy products, including the participation of the Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti, the president of the Region of Emilia-Romagna Stefano Bonaccini, the president of Unicredit Pier Carlo Padoan and the president of Confindustria Ceramica Giovanni Savorani.

This year the exhibition will also offer insights, reflections and a comprehensive look at the trends in surfaces, bathroom furniture, and design. The cultural program “Building, dwelling, thinking” will host the first show of G124 Renzo Piano: mending the suburbs. A journey through Italian cities dedicated to the projects of young designers brought into the G124 Project by Renzo Piano, a work group that supports studies to requalify the suburbs.

The Café della Stampa will kick off, together with 18 important Italian publishing houses, with a series of conferences and debates open to the public in the Agorà dei Media (on themes connected to interior design, materials and bathroom furniture) and in the Sala Talks of the Contract Hall the subject where the topic is architecture and real estate. Everyone is also given the possibility to visit the Città della Posa, a place dedicated to live tiling demonstrations by master tilers.

Another initiative which has been confirmed is Cersaie Designs your home, now in its ninth edition. As always it will provide personalized and free consulting from designers from leading interior design magazines to the public at the Agora dei Media.

“Cersaie 2021 represents an opportunity for ceramic and bathroom furnishing companies to consolidate and lend stability to their business recovery,” said Giovanni Savorani, Chairman of Confindustria Ceramica. “This year’s Cersaie in Bologna will be more than just a major international event that has long contributed to boosting the global reputation of our exhibition center and our city” confirmed the mayor of Bologna, Virginio Merola.

Everything has been fantastically organized and managed to ease movement and visitation in complete safety. The city and region’s institutions have developed Bologna Together with Cersaie, a program which includes all the activities and services offered to Italian and international visitors. Among the instructions, there is free entrance with mandatory prior online registration, the Green Pass for accessing the exhibition and two testing spots which are available at the Costituzione and Nord entrances.

“A demonstration of how a sense of unity amongst all local stakeholders can make a difference” mayor Merola proudly underlined. And we would add that it also shows how Made In Italy is still the driving force of the international system of design and furniture.
