XXVIII Compasso d’Oro ADI 2024: The Winners

After two years, the prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI returns to celebrate the excellence of Italian design. This year, the event holds a special significance as it marks the 70th anniversary of its first edition, conceived by Gio Ponti in 1954.

A long journey that has traversed the evolution of tastes and technological progress, showcasing the path towards increasingly innovative, sustainable, and ethical design projected towards the future.

The Award Ceremony

The award ceremony was held on June 20 at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, which also hosted the 2022 event. The ceremony saw the participation of important local authorities, including the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, and the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala. During the ceremony, the 2024 Compasso d’Oro awards were presented to designers and manufacturers who distinguished themselves for their excellence.

The International Edition of the Compasso d’Oro for Expo 2025

One of the most significant novelties of this edition was the announcement of an international edition of the Compasso d’Oro in partnership with the General Commissioner for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka. This new edition aims to present on a global stage the principles of design quality and social responsibility that the Compasso d’Oro has consolidated in its 70-year history.

The Numbers of Compasso d’Oro 2024

This year, the Compasso d’Oro jury selected 20 products deserving of the prestigious award. Additionally, Compasso d’Oro career awards were given to 9 Italian and 2 international personalities recognized for their significant contributions to the design world.

Moreover, 3 long-selling products, present on the market for decades, received the award for their lasting relevance.

Honorable Mentions and Youth Plaque

A total of 39 Honorable Mentions were also distributed to products chosen for their excellent qualities. The Youth Plaque, intended for projects by students from Italian design universities, saw the awarding of 3 main prizes and 9 certificates of merit. In total, 311 products were included in the event’s catalog.

The Awarded Furniture Products

Among the awarded products in the home furnishing sector, presented in our gallery, the Za:Za sofa by the historic design brand Zanotta, the slender-designed lamp Anima by Davide Groppi, and the innovative and sustainable Costume upholstered system by Magis stand out.

Permanent Exhibition and Show

Finally, the awarded objects and those that received the Honorable Mention will become part of the Compasso d’Oro Collection, permanently exhibited at the ADI Design Museum. The exhibition set up at the museum will be open to the public until September 16, 2024, showcasing 174 products from this edition of the award.
