Amongst nature and artifice, there appears Villa Etna, a contemporary piece of architecture designed by Iraci architetti. Immersed in the singular landscape of valle dell’Etna, it eliminates the boundaries between inside and outside.
It is a villa with large spaces, where prized materials, sophisticated furniture and refined finishes (antoniolupi’s proposals stand out) create a space dedicated to sober elegance that makes details its distinctive feature.
Linear in its geometric and volumetric perfection, the residence lives in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment, immersed and hidden in the landscape thanks to its moderate height, despite being three floors (one of which is underground).
Natural materials and large windows allow the indoors and outdoors to communicate in a style that makes the atmosphere fluid and enveloping: stone, wood and glass finish off the mimesis with the surrounding nature, allowing light to dominate the space. Light is the design tool that creates unexpected scenes and new perspectives. Just consider the interior patio: a haven of peace and relaxation which breaks the sequence of the spaces. There is also the freestanding bathtub Dune which, placed in the center of the bathroom, “projects itself” onto the exterior pool, the body of water which extends towards the home and connects the outdoors with the indoors.
The elements of the bathroom, the furniture and containers for the living room create the project’s mood through rational organization that is full of personality: the antoniolupi collection introduces various personalities with a stylistic consistency that unites taste and functionality, privacy and conviviality. Its dedication to wellness can be seen in the basement, where wellness and fitness coalesce and the covered pool offers multiple jets for pure relaxation: from the rain effect of the Meteo showerhead with built-in chromotherapy, to the concentrated power of the Azimut showerhead’s jet which, located on consecutive walls, recall bright spotlights and offer localized treatments.
Technology and design meet in all of Villa Etna’s rooms and there is no lack of graphic elements, such as the proposals designed by gumdesign: from the 024 washbasins in the countertop or column version, to the wallpaper from the Tralerighe collection which decorates the vertical walls with a sophisticated optical illusion, the Tramato carpets, the niches that decorate the walls, and the outdoor “aerial” stairs made up of minimal wooden steps that hover above sculptural washbasins.
It is a tailored project, made up of architectures and microarchitectures that always speak the stylistic language of “knowhow”, perfectly combining the philosophy of antoniolupi with the traditions of Sicily.
