Few creations have left such an indelible mark on the designer lighting world as has the Atollo lamp. Designed in 1977 by Vico Magistretti for Oluce, this timeless icon has revolutionized the way we think about light by transforming it into a sculptural and minimalist element.
Today, Atollo is back in the limelight with a new satin black nickel finish—an evolution which highlights its timeless elegance.

Oluce and the genius of Vico Magistretti
Founded in 1945, Oluce is one of the most influential Italian companies in the lighting industry. Its ability to meld craftsmanship and innovation has allowed it to create pieces which have made design history. Atollo is one of its most famous creations.

Vico Magistretti, the maestro of rational design, had a clear vision of Atollo when he conceived of it. He wanted to eliminate any superfluous element to leave space for the purity of the geometric shapes. The result was a sculptural object made up of a cylinder, cone, and semi-sphere which would go on to become an instant classic.
Unsurprisingly, Atollo won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro in 1979 and became part of the permanent collections of museums such as New York’s MoMA and the Triennale di Milano.
Atollo: a timeless collection
Over the years, Atoll has established itself as one of the most recognizable table lamps in the world. Available in three sizes (small, medium and large), it comes in various materials to fit into any type of living area. The opaline glass model scatters a soft and enveloping light, while the painted or satin metal versions provide a bolder look.
Satin black nickel: a new look for a design icon
Today, Atollo has been made over with a satin black nickel finish which adds depth and a touch of contemporary refinement to the lamp. This surface treatment brings out the contrast between the geometric forms and provides a discrete and sophisticated reflection to the light.
The new version expands Atollo’s color range, which already featured white, black, gold, and satin bronze finishes. Ideal for elegant and modern spaces, this black nickel version sets itself apart with its ability to fit into both minimalist and more classic environments.
An icon that never goes out of style
After almost 50 years, the Atollo lamp from Oluce continues to be a symbol of style and innovation. The satin black nickel finish is proof of its versatility. It shows how good design never grows old, but rather is always able to discover new forms of expression.
