Alias‘ 2025 releases include new icons which come courtesy of the genius of Mario Botta. The Swiss architect presented Saturno and Zeta in Milan during the latest Design Week.
Conceived to become the new symbols of style and functionality on the contemporary design scene, these two projects pair the designer’s poetic forms with Alias Design’s penchant for experimentation into materials.
Alias Design at the Fuorisalone 2025: history and innovation
Alias chose the enchanting setting of the Fondazione Matalon to showcase its non-stop evolution. The exhibition’s theme was “Lightness of Being”: an immersive journey through the actual spaces which have hosted the latest creations from historic designers like Mario Botta, Patrick Norguet, Paolo Rizzatto, Riccardo Blumer, and Daniel Rybakken.
With new finishes for classic products and the rediscovery of historic icons, Alias’ 2025 releases highlight the brand’s ability to blend past and future, bringing something fresh and powerful to the Italian and international design scene.
Mario Botta: boundless architecture and design
Mario Botta, the world-renowned Swiss architect, has enriched his career by collaborating with masters like Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn.
Since 1982, he left his mark on the Alias universe with iconic pieces like Prima, Seconda, and Robot, which today can be found in the MoMA in New York. His rigorous design brings the essence of architecture to everyday objects, turning them into culturally significant pieces.

“In designing the table for Alias, I drew inspiration from Saturn: its shape, with the iconic ring surrounding it, is echoed in the balance between the top and the base. I wanted an object that expressed both lightness and stability, just like a planet in orbit. Zeta tells a story full of memory. It is a tribute to Gerrit Rietveld, translated into an object crafted with the sensibility of our times.” Mario Botta
Saturno: the perfect balance between solids and voids
The Saturno collection is a table and coffee table system that reinterprets the concept of lightness through a sculptural structure. Mass-colored MDF elements support circular marble, glass, or MDF tops which feature a trademark central hole.
It provides a skylight-like effect which allows the light to pass through the material, highlighting the sculptural form of the base. Also available in two exclusive MB Edition versions, Saturno is a celebration of the constant dialogue that exists between art and functionality.
Zeta: rigor and dynamism in graphic lines
The Zeta stool synthesizes the essence of Botta-style rigor in a compact and sculptural structure. Two square units combined with a diagonal element to produce a sharp and bold Z.
Made in MDF in a monochromatic and polychromatic version, Zeta finds its most audacious look in its M8 edition thanks to two yellow leaves. With Zetta, Botta translates the Neoplasticism of Gerrit Rietveld with Alias’ contemporary sensibility.
