Josephine by Moroso, the new tête-à-tête sofa

Gordon Guillaumier especially designed the Josephine sofa for a corporate environment, however we think it would also work well in a living room. Soon to be launched at the 2017 Salone del Mobile, Milan, Josephine by Moroso has crisp aesthetics and a “hugging” silhouette. The ideal cocoon-like sofa.

  • What is it? Josephine is the latest tête-à-tête sofa by Moroso.
  • What is special about it? Josephine has a cocoon-like silhouette, an ironic piece designed with great attention to detail.
  • How is it made? Josephine has a curved silhouette, and its armrests and back are inspired by the corolla of a flower. Also available in a version with fringe. It’s name is a direct reference to legendary Afro-American entertainer Joséphine Baker, who rose to fame during the thirties and throughout her life was a provocative symbol of female empowerment.
  • Who is it by? Born in 1966, Gordon Guillaumier is a Milan based Maltese designer, known for his eclectic body of work which goes from pottery to hardware and from taps to furniture. He favours a minimalist style with simple shapes and clean-cut geometry, however curves and rounded edges soften the overall look.
  • We have chosen it because… Josephine is a distinctly modern piece, yet it has the same coquettish feel of period sofas. And finally, we have a sofa which goes against the prevailing trend for monolithic furniture, and brings a poetical touch to our lives.
